  • Former KU Athletics Official Sentenced In Ticket Scam

    (Wichita, KS) — A former top athletics official at the University of Kansas will serve a 57-month prison sentence in a five-year scam involving stolen tickets. Charlette Blubaugh was convicted of conspiracy and will also have to pay over two-and-a-half-million-dollars to the universitys athletics department and the IRS. The Lawrence Journal World reports the scam took place from 2005 to 2010. It centered around thousands of stolen KU basketball and football tickets sold through brokers and others for personal gain.   • Owner of Skilled Gaming Business Indicted on Tax Evasion

    A Canfield man was named Wednesday in a three-count criminal bill of information charging him with tax evasion. Michael G. Malvasi, 48, was indicted in US District Court. The first count of the indictment alleges Malvasi failed to report portions of his income earned in 2005 in his skilled gaming business. The indictment states Malvasi reported $9,035 in taxable income for 2005, but his taxable income actually was $76,987. He owes $24,819 in taxes for 2005. Counts 2 and 3 [...]

  • Murder charge upgraded in Wenatchee teen slaying

    WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) — The charge against a Wenatchee man accused of killing a 17-year-old girl has been upgraded to first-degree murder. Chelan County Prosecutor Gary Riesen amended the charge Tuesday against Christopher Scott Wilson. He has been held since October on a second-degree murder charge. The Wenatchee World reports the prosecutor believes theres enough evidence to prove the February 2010 killing of Mackenzie Cowell was premeditated.
