Wilmington Recreation presents a basketball league for ages 35 and up. Wednesdays, Sept. 19 to Nov. 14, with a week off on Oct. 31. Times are 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 pm games. Cost is $50. New players must purchase a league jersey for an additional $20. This league offers those ages 35 and over structured team play with refereed games for fun and fitness.
War Horse Theater Trip
Thursday, Oct. 18, 7:30 pm, at the Boston Opera House. Cost is $102, which include orchestra seat and bus transportation. War Horse uses larger than life puppetry to tell the story of Albert and his beloved horse, Joey. Joey is sold to the cavalry in World War I and shipped to France, where he is soon caught up in enemy fire while serving on both sides. Albert is not old enough to enlist so instead embarks on a mission to find Joey and bring him home. This show was a huge success on Broadway, and is a must see.
Common Man Inn Trip
Sunday and Monday, Oct. 14-15. Cost is $225 per person, double occupancy. An uncommonly good time. Travel north to the Common Man Inn in Plymouth, NH, and enjoy a gondola ride to the top of Loon Mountain, a scenic train ride, a cruise on Golden Pond and, no promises, but hopefully some beautiful foliage. Includes one night at the charming and homey Inn, three meals and a stop en route home at the Tilton Outlets.
Dish, dine and wine
Wilmington Recreation presents a Dish, dine and wine pottery class on Friday, Aug. 17, 6:30-9 pm, at the Magic Brush Studio. Head to the studio for a fun evening while painting a realistic-looking slice of fruit on a plate. Cost is $28. Lowell Spinners
Ticket Sales Sunday, Aug. 26, 5:05 pm, versus the Connecticut Tigers, at LeLacheur Park in Lowell. Cost is $10, Premium Box Seats, Section 118. The Recreation Department has premium box tickets for the always-entertaining Lowell Spinners, minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
Provincetown Dune Tour
Saturday, Sept. 8. Cost is $90 per person. Join Wilmington Recreation for a narrated 75-minute jeep/van tour of the historic sand dunes on the Provincetown Cape Cod National Seashore. Enjoy a luncheon at the Whitman House in Truro followed by free time in Provincetown to browse the quaint shops and boutiques. En route home, stop in Truro for a tour of historic Highland Light. Add motorcoach transportation, tour escort, light snacks during your travel to and from the Cape and you have a wonderful trip to cap off the summer.
