More than the Jazz
I am disappointed at the lack of coverage of local sports activity by The Salt Lake Tribune. It seems as though the only game in town is the Utah Jazz. Column after column of Jazz news, yet no mention of local sports activity, such as American Legion baseball, youth baseball, and just one- or two-liners on Pioneer League action.

Biologists: Media sensationalizes animal sex
(LiveScience) Media reports on animal sex are often sensationalistic, with many humanizing our wild-animal friends in the sack, for instance. The result can lead to a misunderstanding about the nature of human sexuality, two biologists write this week in the journal Nature. University of London researcher Mark Brown and his colleague Andrew Barron of Macquarie University in Australia surveyed 48 newspaper articles written about animal sexual behavior in recent years and found what Brown called some fairly egregious headlines. WILDOMAR: Animal shelter competes for $100000
Animal Friends of the Valleys wants help in saving enough pets to win a cash prize that would go toward starting a nonprofit spay and neuter clinic. The regional animal shelter, which opened in 2010 after 25 years of planning, is competing for the first time in The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Rachael Ray 100K Challenge. Toy Show, wheels not required
Tech. Sgt. Sarah Pokorney The 12th annual Toy Show, during Family Day Sept. 9 at Gowen Field, will showcase the hobbies and interests of Idaho Air National Guard Members. Staff Sgt. Phil Bates (left) and Tech Sgt. Greg Slater, both machinists in the 124th Maintenance Squadrons Metals Technology shop, and gearheads in their free time, have helped coordinate the Toy Show since its beginning.
